
Ivan Petrov PhD
Ivan Petrov PhD is a classical philologist and Slavist interested in comparative and diachronic linguistic studies. His research focuses on the place of Proto-Slavic morphological phenomena in the context of the Indo-European language family, the reception of early patristic texts in Old Bulgarian and New Bulgarian translation. He has twice been an ÖAD scholarship holder and an Alexander von Humboldt scholarship holder. He has been a visiting scholar at a number of foreign academic institutions, including the Jagiellonian University, the University of Vienna and the University of Poitiers. He has worked as an editor of Greek texts in numerous editions of medieval texts and their glossaries, such as Theophylact of Ohrid’s Homily on the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple, the Dragutin Menaion, the preaching tradition of St. John Vladimir, the hymnographic celebration of St. Alexius the Man of God, etc. He is currently a post-doctoral assistant at the Department of Slavonic Studies at the University of Vienna.
